The Bourne Identity Doug Liman 2002 USA / Germany / Czech RepublicAn amnesiac discovers he is wanted by the authorities, whom he must outwit in order to find out who he is and why he is being chased.Absorbing action thriller driven by a superb performance by Matt Damon, who displays a perfect balance of an essentially vulnerable citizen who happens to have been trained in all kinds of surveillance and combat techniques by a government agency indifferent to him. It's like a more existential post-Ronin time-is-of-the-essence caper in which no scene outstays its welcome and the audience, like Bourne, is forever disoriented by a sweeping tourist's camera.See also: DOUG LIMAN.
Bourne series is well executed entertainment. The rapid editing and the supporting soundtrack give the film a momentum that doesn't wear off at any time. However, given the implausibility of the plot, its impact lasts no longer than the film itself.
